- Blue Grass Tours (859-252-5744 or 800-755-6956).
One tour daily at 9:00 a.m. April through October. Every tour lasts
includes a stop at a local horse farm, Keeneland Race Course, Man o
War’s grave site as well as other points of interest. Pick-ups
available at several area hotels. Tours last about three hours. $26
($24 for ages 55 and over). $13 for ages 12 and under. Reservations
required.
- Horse Farm Tours, Inc. (859-268-2906 or
800-976-1034). Tours are given daily at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. seven
days a week year-round. Every tour includes a drive through historic
downtown Lexington, a drive by Calumet, two farms, plus Keeneland and
Thoroughbred Park and lasts about three hours. Tours depart from
several area hotels. Adults are $26. Children under 8 are $13.
- Thoroughbred Heritage Tours. (859-846-9652 or
800-808-9533). A variety of trolley tours are offered including The
Bluegrass Experience which departs at 12:30 daily from the Kentucky
Horse Park. This 2 hour and 45 minute tour visits a number of famous
farms and covers the area’s tobacco heritage and stone fence legacy as
well. Includes a visit with retired racing champions at Old Friends at
Historic Hurstland Farm. $25 for adults; children 12 and under are
$10. No charge for toddlers or infants on their parent’s lap.
- Unique Horse Farm Tours. (859-233-4303 or
800-678-8813) Available exclusively at the Kentucky Horse Park,
usually twice a day, this tour gives you the behind-the-scenes stories
about the people and horses that make Lexington “Horse Capital of the
World.” Tour historic estates and new multi-million dollar farms on
this 2 and a half hour van tour. Adults are $25. Children 7 to 12 are
$15; 6 and under are free.
